Important note on ball bearings: Every ball bearing should be cleaned and lubricated regularly. This not only increases the durability but also the fun and speed. For recreational and occasional skaters, one service per year is normally sufficient. Those who ride regularly or take part in races should do so more frequently. The bearings should be cleaned at the latest when they become audibly dirty. Also bear in mind that ball bearings without sufficient lubrication are susceptible to flash rust (except for stainless ball bearings).
